Chess

Foreword

I've played chess casually since I downloaded a chess app on my iPad when I was eight. I've always enjoyed the long periods of thinking and the unforgiving nature of the game, where one bad move can erase an advantage built over the previous twenty. For quite a while, I've wanted to put real effort into improving.

In the summer of 2026, I decided to dedicate some of my free time to serious improvement. This page is a simple record of that effort.

Monthly progress

Chess ratings are numerical estimates of playing strength, with higher ratings generally indicating stronger players. Lichess is a free online chess platform where I play rated rapid games. My target Lichess rating is 2400.
